On June 21, 2013, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, and Markus Ozegovich, Head of Volkswagen Group Rus, signed an agreement for Volkswagen Group Rus to become a Supporting Partner of the Olympic Torch Relay. The Presenting Partners of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay are Coca-Cola, OSAO "Ingosstrakh", and OAO "Russian Railways Company".
Volkswagen Group Rus will provide Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles for the Relay team and their Escort, buses for the press and torchbearers, cars for security and torch keepers, and for the media special vans for photo and video coverage of the torchbearers whilst they run.
On its way from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, the Escort will visit 17 regions of the Central and Northwestern Federal districts. As far as air and train routes for the Relay are concerned, the Escort will change in almost each region of Russia.
The presentation of the Olympic Torch Relay Escort, consisting of Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles covered with Relay symbols, will take place in Moscow in early October 2013, just before the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Russia.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, noted:

Volkswagen cars will form the Relay motorcade, which will bring the Olympic flame to hundreds of cities across Russia”

The Olympic Torch Relay
The Olympic Torch Relay will begin its journey from Moscow on October 7, 2013. Based on the organizers' estimates, 90% of the Russian population will find themselves within an hour's drive of the route of the Relay, and thus around 130 million residents of this country will be able to play a direct part in the Relay or witness it at first hand. It will cover a total of over 65,000 kilometers, by car, train, plane and even on a Russian troika pulled by reindeer.
The Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay will be the longest in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. The Sochi 2014 Relay will also be the longest of all the national Relays that have been held solely within the territory of the country hosting the Games. During the Olympic Torch Relay, 14,000 torchbearers will carry the Sochi 2014 Olympic torch through 2900 towns and cities in all 83 Federal Regions of our country. The Relay will conclude with the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi on February 7, 2014.
