On November 24, in Tyumen, under the aegis of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, the musical festival "Denis Matsuev presents" will commence. The festival is taking place in Tyumen for the first time, and continues a series of performances which the world-famous musician has been holding in Russian cities, with unfailing success, for four years in a row.
The first day of the Musical Festival in the Tyumen Concert Hall will take place under the aegis of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, and promises to become one of the most stand-out events of the festival. Audiences in Tyumen will be presented with a gala concert of symphony music performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, directed by the world-famous musician, People's Artist of Russia, Vladimir Spivakov. The evening will be opened by the soloist and artistic director of the festival, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Denis Matsuev. The Tyumen public will be able to enjoy works by P.I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No.5 and Piano Concerto No.1.
In the program for the festival "Denis Matsuev presents", which is going to last until November 26, there will be concerts featuring orchestral, opera and jazz music, and involving famous Russian and international performers: the vocalist Pauline Jean (USA), the musicians Aidar Gainullin, Andrei Ivanov and Dmitry Sevastyanov (Russia), and also a concert featuring former pupils from the inter-regional charitable foundation, "New names". The festival in Tyumen will bring to an end the series of concerts in the "Denis Matsuev presents" tour, which has already seen back-to-back performances take place in Chelyabinsk, Orenburg and Krasnoyarsk.
Mikhail Birman, the conductor of the Tyumen Philharmonic, commented: "The prestigious status of a participant in the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad" has given a special significance not just to the orchestral concert, which will open the Denis Matsuev Music Festival in Tyumen, but also to the whole musical event in general, and moreover, the philharmonic now has the chance to go down not just in musical history, but also in Olympic history."
The Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, which the opening of the festival will be a part of, is going to give everyone in our country the chance to feel part of a big celebration, and to help to preserve and spread Russia's cultural wealth.
